The Life of the Party

There’s a party that has been going for quite a while, and everyone has been drinking. They started off with the good stuff, then moved on to the natty light as the party went on, and then eventually the alcohol completely ran out. But then out of nowhere someone shows up with more than thirty 5-gallon Gatorade jugs filled with the finest, most expensive alcohol available. Everyone’s celebrating, because now the party doesn’t have to stop. In fact, I guess you could even say it has now officially become “the After Party”.

Who does this heroic saver-of-the-alcoholic-beverages remind you of? I’m talking about Jesus, and I was paraphrasing the story about when he turned water into wine (John 2).

One of the most important things to remember about this story is that Jesus made something out of nothing. He took plain ordinary water, and turned it in into lots of very valuable fine wine. The same way he brings death to life, and restores the hearts of sinners, he made you into a new creation. And because of that you will never not be valuable.
