Can I Get A Witness?

This morning some Jehovah’s Witnesses were going door-to-door in our neighborhood spreading the message of their belief system. One man stood in the road staring at me while I was in the driveway. I looked at him with the expectation that he was going to approach me to begin conversation. So I waited patiently as I welcomed the opportunity, but with no further interaction the man decided to move on and approach someone else.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed, because I wanted to ask him how he feels and what he believes about Jesus. I ask this in love and sincerity, but the answer usually reveals false prophecy. Especially when the response is uncomfortable, awkward, or beats around the bush. In my experience the Jehovah’s Witnesses are usually quick to end the conversation at that point.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
