Mediums

I was watching the news this morning and during commercial breaks the network kept advertising for the reality show “Long Island Medium”. This particular episode shows the Medium channeling the dead father for what looks to be an eight year old boy. She asks the boy, did he used to call you this?, did he used to do that?. The young boy breaks down in tears at the hope of being near his father again. As I watched, I recalled the mention of a medium in some scripture I had recently read in my bible while studying something else but couldn’t remember the context. So I googled it and this is what I found: http://www.openbible.info/topics/psychic

Looking at the number of warnings He (our Lord) gives us concerning these types of people and crafts, I think we ought take it seriously. What prompted me to share this today was the fact that, despite the mediums big hair, long finger nails, and overall typical New Jersey flare, she looks quite charming. I have no doubt she is easily liked. With this, I felt urged to remind you to take your faith in Jesus Christ very seriously. Guard your heart and your home even at the risk of criticism from the world who does not understand your devotion to Jesus. Satan’s goal is to deceive the world, and he does so in very cleverly disguised ways. They often appear harmless. As if you can partake and still be a follower of Jesus Christ, but you can’t.

I was raised believing that in the end of days there would come a antichrist, and that I would go to heaven before this. However, in 1 John, John writes that he too was already living in the last hour and that there are many antichrists, http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+John+2%3A18-27&version=NIV

Also in 2John 1:7-11 writes there are many deceivers and we should not let them into our home. That any who welcomes them shares in his wicked work see: http://biblebrowser.com/2_john/1-7.htm

I have comprised a list of a few things that teach the opposite of Jesus Christ:

Mediums
Psychics
Tarot Cards and Card Readers
Palm Reading
Rastafari
Self-Help. Emphasis on self, not Jesus.
Prosperity gospel. (The love of money is the root of all evil). Be careful.
Scientology (see self help)
Enlightenment (notice a list of words I found used to describe the meaning): worldview, Buddhism, Hinduism, spiritual
