My wedding vows included the statement “…I promise to love you through good times and bad, in sickness and in health…”. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about God’s description of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I want to reiterate that promise, and extend it to the rest of my family. I promise to show patience, kindness, unselfishness, humility, honor, a servant’s heart, forgiveness, protection, trust, hope, and perseverance. Especially in times that aren’t great, I promise to always give you my love.
